The Taipei Czech Centre is proud to present an exhibition of contemporary Czech art, offering different stories and variations that visitors to Art Taipei 2024 will have the opportunity to see exclusively this year. The exhibition will take place from 25-28 October in Hall 1 of the World Trade Center in Taipei and will provide a deep insight into contemporary Czech culture through diverse visual narratives represented by a wide range of media including paintings, objects and installations.
This presentation explores how globalization has changed the way we tell stories. Although globalisation has shortened the distances between countries, cultural differences remain. However, they can easily be overcome by the universal language of visual art. The exhibition presents a multicultural society in which both local and international artists contribute to the country's creative scene.
The focal point of the exhibition is a monumental installation by renowned Czech artist Jan Kadlec. Other exhibiting artists include Jiří Matějů and Jan Kaláb, who bring vivid abstract colourism to the exhibition, and alongside them, Tereza Štětinová's poetic sculptures inspired by the beauty of nature. Markéta Vaňková and Moemi Yamamoto explore the subconscious in their paintings, while Natalie Perkof returns to classical themes with a modern twist, focusing on still lifes with fabrics.
Innovative artists Richard Loskot and Pavel Mrkus - who recently completed their residencies in Taiwan - experiment with new technologies to create illusions and layered visual narratives. The exhibition closes with Milena Dopitová with her metaphorical paintings that explore the impact of social media on modern communication.
We are pleased to announce that curator Lenka Lindaurová, along with artists Jan Kadlec and Matěj Macháček, will be present in person at the fair. They will be available at our stand every day to offer visitors a deeper insight into their works.
