The exhibition, named after the cinematic term "Prequel," presents an open collection of paintings created between 2011 and 2016, which were recently stored near the artist's birthplace close to Tokyo. Even back then, Moemi Yamamoto's works had a magical character, touching on dreamy ideas and drawing from the visuality of museum exhibits and cabinets of curiosities she visited during her travels in Italy. Their protagonist is a mysterious "yellow man" with a face reminiscent of a shell. Half human being, half natural spirit – an obsessive motif with a strange erotic charge, whose mere presence brings tension to the depicted scenes and unexpectedly transforms their meaning.
